Lovebird Feeding Schedule

  • 2 Weeks Old 5 feedings every 4 hours (8:00a.m. 12:00p.m 4:00p.m 8:00p.m. 12:00a.m.) feed approximately 3.5-4.5 cc feed till crops are full or baby refuses to eat anymore food.
  • 3 Weeks Old 4 feedings every 4 hours (8:00a.m. 12:00p.m. 4:00p.m. 8:00p.m.) feed approximately 4.5-5.5 cc feed till crops are full or baby refuses to eat anymore food. Introduce soft avicakes after birds have been fed.
  • 4 Weeks Old 3 feedings every 6 hours (8:00a.m. 2:00p.m. 8:00p.m.) feed approximately 5.5-6.5 cc depending on the size of the babies. Do Not Drop Feeding to 3 unless babies are eating avicakes on a regular basis. Introduce crushed nutri-berries and small pellet bird food by hand feeding after formula feeding. This is also the time to Introduce Water.
  • 5 Weeks Old 2 feedings every 12 hours (8:00a.m. 8:00p.m.) feed approximately 6.5-9.0 cc depending on size of babies or until crops are full. Introduce bird seed at this time for the extra fat content needed between feeding and energy for flight. 5.5 Weeks of Age Birds will begin to Fly this is when they are placed in a cage with a cozy tent for all the babies to sleep in.
  • 6 Weeks Old 1 feeding per day (6 or 8p.m.) feed approximately 7.0-10.0 cc Babies are filling up on adult bird food during morning and should begin weaning during this week.
  • 7 Weeks Old birds should be weaning, if they don't cry for food then don't feed baby formula this week. Introduce cooked foods at this stage, sprouts, vegetables, wheatgrass and fruits.
  • 8 Weeks Old Weaned bird. Never clip wings until the bird is completely weaned. During the weaning process it is important to spend as much time socializing and training,, during this time the bird is no longer dependent on us for food so spending as much time with your bird will keep it tame.
